A native Philips Hue app for your Mac

Control your Hue lights from the desk you already work at: a real Mac window with menus, keyboard shortcuts and right-click actions.

Why a Mac app for Hue lights?

If you spend the day at a Mac, reaching for your phone to dim the office lights or start a focus scene breaks your flow. HueCommand (listed on the App Store as Command for Philips Hue) runs as a native macOS app, so your rooms, scenes and effects sit in a window next to your other work.

It is built with SwiftUI for macOS, not an iPhone app stretched onto a bigger screen. It has its own Dock icon, a resizable window and the menus and shortcuts you expect from a Mac app.

Keyboard shortcuts and menu commands

The tabs and the most common actions are in the menu bar at the top of the screen, each with a keyboard shortcut:

Clicks take effect right away: a room responds as soon as you click it, and All On and All Off switch the whole house at once.

What you can do on Mac

AI scene creation uses Apple's on-device model, so on Mac it needs macOS 26 or later with Apple Intelligence available, plus Pro.

Is it a menu bar app?

No. Earlier builds lived in a small menu bar popover, but it was cramped and could not be resized, so the Mac app is now a regular window app with a Dock icon. If you specifically want a light switch in the menu bar, this app does not offer one today. Use the keyboard shortcuts above instead.

Setup and requirements

You need a Mac running macOS 14 Sonoma or later and a Philips Hue Bridge on the same network. On first launch the app looks for your Bridge, then asks you to press the link button on it to pair. If you don't have a Bridge yet, demo mode lets you explore the whole app first.

Your Bridge address and app key are stored in the Mac's Keychain. Commands go straight to the Bridge on your local network. The Philips Hue cloud is only used if you turn on remote access.

Free vs Pro: the app is a free download and everyday light control is free. Pro (monthly, yearly, or a one-time lifetime unlock) adds remote access, geofencing, multi-bridge, bridge backup, the energy dashboard, Entertainment streaming, AI scenes and more.
